Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park
What was once just a vision by Pickens County veterans has become a reality. The expansion of the Veterans Memorial Park is now complete. Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park honors the 55 brave individuals from Pickens County and acknowledges the sacrifices of these veterans who gave everything for our freedom. After a couple of years of planning and fundraising, the Veterans Memorial Park is finished and includes tributes to all present, past, and future veterans. The addition features the marble memorial relocated from the front of the Pickens courthouse on Main Street to its new home. This marble memorial has withstood the test of time for over 78 years to honor these veterans.
Six individual polished granite monuments were installed, each depicting service members in combat uniform from the following wars:
• World War I
• World War II
• Korean War
• Vietnam War
• Iraqi Freedom
• War on Terror
At the base of each marble/granite monument, the names of the Pickens County veterans who were KIA during the respective wars are inscribed. These monuments are a solemn tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of these veterans who gave everything for our freedom.
The public is invited to a dedication program at the Veterans Memorial Park on June 6 at 11:00 AM. This date also marks the anniversary of D-Day.
